Covid winter is really hitting me hard rn, realizing it’s been 6 months since my last flight (yes I did travel during the pandemic and I respected all the safety measures).
Some of you were judging me, and the irony is I got infected with covid. Not during my travels, but back at home when I didn’t leave the house for weeks.
My point is, start living, see the world and enjoy every moment. Life is uncertain even if you don’t leave your house, so stop living in fear.

Tot ce îmi doresc de Crăciun e sa ma întorc aici.
Iarna asta e tot mai grea pt mine mai ales ca îmi e foarte dor sa călătoresc. Nu am mai călătorit de 6 luni (da, am zburat și călătorit in timpul pandemiei).
Ironia e ca am avut și covid. Dar nu m-am infectat in călătorie, ci acasă când nu am părăsit locuința cu săptămânile.
Ce vreau sa zic cu asta e ca viața e oricum incerta, chiar și dacă nu îți părăsești locuința. Așa ca de ce sa trăiești cu teama?

To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles.

And that’s how I feel about Romania: you think you go for a hike but on your way you discover old, forgotten legends.
.
The Dezna fortress is not a touristic place at all, even though it dates back to the 13th century.
.
A legend says that the fortresses Dezna, Soimos and Siria were build by 3 sisters. Each sister wanted to have the fortress built first.
.

The first said, "If God helps me, my fortress will be finished tomorrow."
.
The second one also said: “My fortress will be ready tomorrow with the help of God.
.
The third sister said defiantly, "Even if God does not help me, my fortress will be ready tomorrow."
.
Legend says God got angry and after the 3 fortresses were built, he demolished them and the sisters were transformed in white snakes having a crown on their head and a golden key in the mouth.
.
It is said that the snakes appear once a year waiting for someone to break the curse.
.
There are so many legends around these places and I feel it’s always fascinating to learn more.
.
This place is now a ruin but if you visit, you’ll be able to feel the magic.
.

Asta cred eu despre România: initial crezi ca mergi intr-o drumeție, dar pe drum descoperi legende vechi uitate.

O legendă spune că cetățile Dezna, Soimos și Siria au fost construite de 3 surori. Fiecare soră a vrut să construiască mai întâi cetatea.

Prima a spus: „Dacă Dumnezeu mă ajută, cetatea mea va fi terminată mâine”.
.
A doua a spus: „Cetatea mea va fi gata mâine cu ajutorul lui Dumnezeu.
.
A treia soră a spus sfidător: „Chiar dacă Dumnezeu nu mă ajută, cetatea mea va fi gata mâine”.
.
Legenda spune că Dumnezeu s-a mâniat și, după ce au fost construite cele 3 cetăți, le-a demolat și surorile au fost transformate în șerpi albi având o coroană pe cap și o cheie de aur în gură.
.
Se spune că șerpii apar o dată pe an și așteaptă ca cineva să rupă blestemul.
.
Există atât de multe legende în jurul acestor locuri. Chiar daca acest loc e o ruina acum, ii vei putea simți magia.

Loy Krathong is a Buddhist festival celebrated at full moon for over 6,000 years.

Thai people are gathering around rivers to pay respect to the water Goddess Pra Mae Khongkha.

But floating the Kratong is a symbol of letting your worries and misfortune float away.

You’re also supposed to make a wish when you put the offering into the water, which I totally forgot.

At first I was a bit disappointed that I forgot to make a wish, but soon I realized I’m exactly where I needed to be: I learned to let go of the things that no longer serve me and I was focusing more on the things that make me really happy.

Maybe this isn’t the longest time I took a break

Maybe this isn’t the longest time I took a break from Instagram, but it certainly feels like it’s been forever.

October 2020 was probably the scariest month of my life, it felt like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.

Every morning I had to remember that my dad is hospitalised and severely ill with Covid-19. I was scared that the treatment he receives isn’t effective and sad I couldn’t visit him. I had to worry about my mom and wonder if my symptoms could get worse.

The irony is, I’ve been to 5 different countries this summer and got infected in my hometown.

IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE AND TO ANYONE. So here’s a reminder not to let your guard down and stay safe!

2020 has been so different from what we all expected, but there is a quote that resonated with me these days:

“Only if you have been in the deepest valley, can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain”

To be honest, I much prefer climbing mountains in a non figurative way, but wanted to share with you some beautiful views from this summer‘s hike in Grindelwald.

Anyway, I missed you all and can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!

The greatest part of a road trip isn’t arriving at your destination. It’s all the wild stuff that happens along the way.

Today I thought a lot about the good old days, when we could just jump on a plane and go.
.
I remember our first roadtrip together @renate_monard. We were kinda broke and didn’t want to spend much money on renting a car. We just cared about exploring the country.
.
We rented the cheapest car, which was also the oldest one. The car didn’t have any gps and our internet didn’t work, so we had to use a topographic map. We got lost several times, which made our trip even more exciting.

Spending the night in a tent, in the middle of the desert. Be sure you have layers and layers of clothes with you. It gets so cold but the experience is totally worth it.

It breaks my heart to hear that people actually have elephant-riding on their bucket lists, some of them not knowing the ugly truth behind this activity.

Elephants are wild animals who are not supposed to be ridden by people, to get an elephant to allow a human to ride on its back, the baby elephants are confined in small spaces, tortured, starved, and deprived of sleep. This whole process has a name: Phajaan or “the crush.”

YES, Rescue parks are more expensive than other elephant riding parks, and that’s because they do not exploit those elephants. An elephant can spend an average of 16-18 hours of everyday eating (they eat over 300 kg of food a day). So taking proper care of an elephant is pretty costly.

I think I would go back 2 years ago. I visited the Amalfi Coast to attend a wedding and had so much fun being reunited with a group of friends and then visiting these places for an entire week!
